Health & Illness Policy
At PGC, the health and safety of our students, families, and staff is our top priority.
Our team works diligently to keep our facility clean and as germ-free as possible. We use every available moment to clean and maintain a safe environment for our gymnasts. We understand concerns about flu, viruses, and other illnesses that can spread quickly among families, especially during illness seasons.
To help protect everyone in our PGC community, we ask that children who are sick stay home and return only when they are healthy.
When Should Your Child Stay Home?
Please do not bring your child to class if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
- Fever: A temperature of 100°F or higher taken under the arm, or 101°F taken orally
- Diarrhea: Runny, watery, or bloody stools, or 2 or more loose stools within a 4-hour period
- Vomiting: 2 or more times within a 24-hour period
Please do not bring your child to the gym if they have vomited during the night. - Breathing difficulties, sore throat, swollen glands, loss of voice, hacking, or continuous coughing
- Frequent scratching, lice, rash, or spots that may resemble contagious childhood illnesses, including ringworm
- Unusual behavior: If your child is extremely irritable, continuously crying, or requires more individual attention than our staff can provide while maintaining the safety and well-being of other students
If a Child Becomes Ill at the Gym
If a child arrives at the gym displaying symptoms, PGC staff may ask the parent or guardian to take the child home and return once they are healthy.
If symptoms become noticeable after class begins, the coach may move the child away from other students and, when possible, contact the parent or guardian for pick-up.
Returning to Gymnastics
Please ensure your child is:
- Fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, and/or
- Has been taking antibiotics for at least 24 hours (when prescribed)
If your child was too sick to attend school, please extend the same courtesy to PGC and keep them home until they are ready to safely return.
Thank you for helping us prevent the spread of illness and keep PGC a clean, healthy, and welcoming place for all students and families.
